Great read. It brings together many different ideas that have been discussed before but not in a comprehensive way. Would recommend it to anyone looking for a truly unique perspective regarding history as we know it. After all it proves that History is truly His story... to the victor goes the spoils and the right to write his story as he wants to.

This Book Shatters the Illusion of World History that We Were Taught in School

I first heard about the Swerdlows when a friend recommended the book True Reality of Sexuality. It changed my life and I've been obsessed with everything from the authors that I could get my hands on. Before reading True World History, I knew that American history and Judeo-Christian history especially, were sugar-coated and edited, but I had no idea until I read this. It blew me away and I couldn't put it down. I was hesitant to read it at first because of some reviews but it is absolutely worth it, especially with the great kindle price.

You'll learn about civilizations on Mars and other planets, the war-like civilizations on Mu and Atlantis. Decades ago newspapers, and even documents by the Smithsonian Institute, talked about Egyptian artifacts in North America. The Chinese were on the west coast, and you'll read about the amazing history of Michigan, yup Michigan, and the different cultures that traveled very far for its copper mines. There's plenty on Hitler and his expeditions to Tibet and Antarctica, and of course the horrible genocides that were carried out by the Catholic Church over the centuries. Reviewers said that this book is full of theories. Nope, it gets you to think outside of the box and really ask questions about what you've been taught. And of course the last chapters show you what you can do to improve yourself and the world.

I felt satisfied with the lengths of the different chapters of this book. I don't know why others complained. People get overwhelmed by information that's new and different. Especially if it counters what we have been told by the status quo, the media, the education system, and our government. Read this book now, it's fun and dangerous to the illusion that's been set up around you. With love...

The Underbelly of History.

Stewart Swerdlow's True World History is a captivating, engrossing, but ultimately uneven reading experience. While there is a great deal of intriguing insight into world history, his sketchy scholarship and breezy attitude detract from what might otherwise be an important work. In the area of suppressed archeology, however, Swerdlow really shines - in fact, whenever he knows his business his prose style tightens and your attention is riveted. Too often, however, his cavalier style is simplistic and dismissive. The maps and graphs are noteworthy, but sometimes outweigh the thin text that accompanies them. This is not an encyclopedia, tis true, but the endless snippets require a bit more substance. The aim of this book is to zero in on historical inaccuracies, and this he does with a laser focus - though often at the expense of complexity, where truth is to be found.

I absolutely recommend this book, however, and will read it again. There are many important passages and much I did not know. In today's zombie zeitgeist it is a brave attempt to shake people out of their complacent, cud chewing mediocrity. The world may be screwed, but it's more interesting than we knew - this he informs us with dash and verve. Lots of astonishing material here, good potential for a mature second edition.

Nice, but confusing and unbalanced, and not for beginners

The book covers a myriad of methods for folding, pleating, gathering, etc., but is very inconsistent in its explanations of technique. Some are covered too well, while others are either very confusing in their explanations or glossed over, leaving the reader to figure out the techniques on their own. While I am not sorry I purchased the book, it is definitely not one for beginners and, unless one is willing to spend the time figuring out some of the less well-explained techniques, not worth the price I had to pay for it. Perhaps the author might consider updating the book to make it more accessible, especially for the novice.

PERFORMING MIRACLES WITH FABRIC!

This really is a book about how to perform miracles with fabric! I disagree with Gingercook that this is not a book for novices or beginning seamstresses. I am just learning to use my Viking Topaz 30, taking lessons at the best sewing shop in Las Vegas, but I LOVE this book and, as others have said, cannot put it down! I have found ANSWERS to every question you could possibly have concerning getting fabric to do what you want it to do. I want to make a ruffle skirt for my 4 year old grand-daughter, but I want to make one with ruffles that stand out and "float" - not just hang there. Maybe other people know about Circular Flounce and cutting the ruffle pieces (as it shows on page 67) from a CIRCLE OF FABRIC - the strip closest to the center of the circle has tremendous flare, the next strip not so much and the third strip (which is cut farthest from the center of the circle has very little flare. The diagrams in this book are the best I have ever seen and they are on every page, helping you to understand, totally, how to do each step. It explains GRAINLINE BALANCE ON PAGE 70, with diagrams. Sorry but I had never heard of grainline balance, but I will never forget it now! I had never heard of a GODET, now I can't wait to try to make one and the SQUARE GODET shown on page 84 is one of the most beautiful things I have seen. Just take a large hankerchief (or large square of fabric) hold it by one of the 4 corners and let the fabric drape by itself. The drawing on page 84 shows this with 4 folds ending in a handkerchief edge. I can't wait to try to make one. I am taking this book to my instructors so they can teach me how to make a godet (go-day).

I have never seen so many different drapery pleats. I especially like the CARTRIDGE PLEAT. Colette not only shows you all the different pleats, but she also shows you how to change them and make them look completely different.

This book is an INSPIRATION, but it is not a book about which fabric to choose to make the miracles happen. It is about being able to make these miracles happen with ALL KINDS OF FABRIC.

I'm taking classes in Heirloom sewing and this book shows how to do many of the Heirloom techniques and shows it with diagrams, making it easy to understand how to do all those intricate, gorgeous Shark's Teeth, Slashed Tucks, Keyhole Tucks, etc. The book also includes a chapter on Quilting and one on Stuffed Quilting & Applique, teaching you things that almost make you drool - because they are pieces of art and belong in a museum.

I purchased this book on a whim while I was deciding whether or not to purchase the Colette Sewing Handbook by Sarai Mitnick and I ended up buying both of them.

EVERY PERSON WHO SEWS OR WHO IS THINKING OF SEWING SHOULD OWN THIS BOOK. It is an inspirational book and a book of HOW TO PERFORM MIRACLES with fabric!

Good Inspiration, no instruction

This book is good if you want inspiration on what you could do with fabric, but is lacking in any instruction. Small black and white photos and illustrations lead to a general idea of how to reproduce some of the amazing works in this book.
If you have a general sewing knowledge, you may even be able to make a decent replica of many of the pieces but if you are looking for in depth instruction, or on with the more complicate works, this book will not deliver. Its decent and inspiring enough to give a look at and keep in your book case though.

Reads more like an infomercial, but some great nuggets of information

This book goes over how to set up online businesses using social media, webinars and other click-advertising methods to generate a stream of income, while not investing much at all of your own capital. Stay-at-home moms who need income, those with underpaying jobs, or no jobs are going to be very interested in what Mark Anastasi has to say.

However, the style of the book (a lot of hype about how the author and others live the "good life" --luxurious vacations, thousands of dollars a month pouring into checking accounts, getting up late, not commuting to an office, living offshore in a less-expensive tropical location) sound more like an infomercial and indeed, the author is suggesting you take one of his seminars.

The good news about this book is that the information is gathered conveniently into one place. The bad news is that you probably can get this yourself if you study online enterprise, and meanwhile you have to wade through the fluff and sales pitch. I will say, that doing all this research yourself online is time-consuming and you do get a number of ideas here (ebooks, informational websites that pay per click, webinars, referral sites) as well as a concise list of opportunities for earning a living with a web-based business.

I am giving the book three stars because a lot of what is in here is true, at least for the current year 2012, and if you are wanting to branch out on your own, start a business with a minimal startup cost, this could be very helpful. I just didn't enjoy the writing; too much anecdotal come-on, hype and cheerleading, too little meat and potatoes of information. You'd need more than this book if you are serious.

The primary purpose of 'Laptop Millionaire' is to get readers to sign up for his more expensive products, such as $40 software, but much more focused on his $2,000 and $5,000 seminars (plus travel, room and board). I also noted that all the testimonials are authored by others in the 'get rich quick and easy' business. The book is really just an infomercial, with very little of value.

Gotta give PROPS for a really good book on making money online

This book lays out all the popular sales channels (as of 12' april) to earn big money sitting in your underwear at home using popular sites such as facebook, twitter and such.

I mainly picked up the book for more tips to increase my ebook business and I ended up learning more than I thought I would.

If your looking for the most current ways to make money online "at least until a new crop of sales channels open up" this book will satisfy your needs.

It lays out the endless potential in accessing billions of consumers all over the world and then actually shows you how to tap into them.

Update...it is June 1 2014 and I'm still referring to this book. The author should follow up with a training series. There really is some good advice in the book. Gonna start licencing that I learned about...good stuff..just changed from 4 stars to 5

Good - Not Groundbreaking, but Good

A large (very large) text ... I purchased it based primarily upon the strength of Tina Overton's review in (I think) Chem International. It is solid, readable, integrated and interesting. I'm not sure I share Dr. Overton's complete view of the text - but much of it. As an aside, Dr. Overton co-authored one of the more fascinating text "Descriptive Inorganic Chemistry", I have ever read ... Now, there's a text worth owning.

Clean and perfect condition - book as described. No damage or wear.

I recieved the text book fast in better then described condition. The book was as new if id gone to the uni library but I saved a small fortune!! Text books are soo expensive so it was nice to have this for the price of a night out rather then the price of accomadation for a year in a resort.

I like the patterns very much

Don't get me wrong, I like the patterns very much. The language is not a problem, as patterns come in charts, and there are clear instructions on special stitches. Most of the designs are sophisticated looking, and maybe one of these days I will finally tackle one of these patterns.

My only "gripe", and thus only 4 star review, is that nobody else mentioned these designs only come in one size for each pattern. It will need A LOT of recalculations if the published pattern doesn't fit your size. My guess is that if you are skilled enough to try out one of Hitomi Shida's patterns, you can probably figure out fitting adjustments with no problem.
